Can smart bracelets help identify infected persons?

Xinhua News Agency Feature Wear a smart bracelet or watch to monitor your physical condition and exercise. Some researchers hope that the changes in heart rate, respiratory rate and other biometric data monitored by such wearable smart devices may help identify asymptomatic cases of new coronavirus infection.

The research team led by Professor Snyder at Stanford University School of Medicine is one of several research teams in this area. Reuters reported that Snyder's team analyzed data recorded by the smart devices worn by 31 people who tested positive for the new crown virus and found that 80% of them had data indicating that they had been infected when they had symptoms of infection or an average of 3 days ago. The research team is studying the relationship between changes in respiratory rate and heart rate and infection with the new coronavirus.

Snyder hopes that this research will be able to detect (infection) before the onset of symptoms... so that the infected can stay at home.
